The Master of Rural and Remote Medicine is a broad-based degree for students wishing to pursue a career in research focused on rural and remote medicine.

As rural and remote medicine is a generalist discipline, the range of research topics is very wide, from large-scale epidemiological studies to educational and qualitative or clinical studies.

Course outline

This Master's by research (thesis) consists of:

  • A research thesis of not more than 50,000 words, plus courses, lectures, seminars and other work and/or studies and investigations culminating in such reports as the supervisor or Head of School directs. This degree can also be taken by thesis and coursework.

Admission requirements

Admission to the Master of Rural and Remote Medicine (Thesis) requires:

  • a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery of this University, or equivalent as recognised by the Board
  • completed or continuing fellowship training in an emergency medicine specialist college recognised by the Board.

All UWA research programs require English Language Competence.
