This placement provides the opportunity to immerse yourself in remote health care in one of the most remote and beautiful parts of Australia.

Located two hours north-east of Broome in the Kimberley, Derby is the main access point to Gibb River Road, Windjana Gorge National Park, Tunnel Creek and the small islands of the Buccaneer Archipelago.

Derby has the highest tidal range of any Australian port. The town has a wide range of amenities, and recreation facilities include a swimming pool, library, art galleries, sports ovals and horse riding.

Shopping outlets include grocery, clothing, furniture, newsagency and chemist shops, cafés and hotels.

The placement

Working between Derby Aboriginal Health Services and Derby Regional Hospital will enable you to gain a range of experiences in remote health care. There is a wide range of allied health services and visiting specialists. The health service also visits remote communities and works with the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Placement
10-12 weeks or 20-22 weeks.
Accommodation
Your accommodation in Derby will be provided.
Transport
The program covers the cost the cost of your flights between Perth and Broome (then by road to Derby) or from Perth to Derby. A car will be provided while on placement but may be limited to work use only.
