Thesis

Defining appropriate use of troponin testing for diagnosis of acute coronary syndromes in primary care

Summary

This project will investigate current use of troponin testing by general practitioners (GPs) in Western Australia, the effect of testing on patient management and the outcomes for those patients.

The objective will be to assess whether patients are exposed to adverse outcomes by the use of troponin testing in primary care and will inform GPs how to use troponin testing safely in the diagnosis of acute coronary syndromes.

Why my research is important

Improving clinical practice of general practitioners so that acute coronary syndromes are diagnosed in a timely manner and patient can receive optimal management as soon as possible after this diagnosis.
